Happy Birthday to Kacey!

Nineteen years ago today, I had a baby girl.
Let me introduce you to little Miss Kacey -

She was THE BEST baby in the universe! She loved sitting in her swing, and I'll admit that I let her for far too many hours. She was just so content to go back and forth and study her surroundings. I had my daughter and Matt got his sister. Life was good!

Her amazingly blond hair was so fun for me to play with, and she looked great in every color. Dressing her up didn't last for too long. Soon she decided that she would do her own hair and choose the outfit of the day. An independent soul was in the works.

Kacey developed a bit of an "attitude". This little girl knew exactly what she wanted, she just couldn't have it all as quickly as she desired and she began to be driven! She walked with a march in her step and a look that warned people off of her sidewalk. I was so proud!

In the midst of her whirlwind little world, a tooth was chipped, which seemed to take place of the chip on her shoulder. She gradually decided to let people share her sidewalk and decided to enjoy the journey of attaining all that she hoped for.

Little Miss Kacey turned into quite the tomboy! She loved playing sports and was very good at it. Her sport changed with each hairstyle ... basketball, softball or four square, it didn't matter, she loved it all and eventually even played on a powder-puff football team in High School!

Look at her now. Nineteen years later, she still has that beautiful blond hair, only now she has added a black strip down the back (which I am hip enough to admit looks fantastic). She still walks with a march in her step making sure that she is headed in the direction that she truly wants to end up traveling. She is still great at sports and is now going to be on a City softball league as an adult. A little bit of the tomboy remains on the interior of this gorgeous exterior. She's got enough attitude and independence to make sure that nothing gets in her way, and enough sensitivity and empathy to allow others to join her in her adventure.

You've come a long way baby ... but you're still my little girl!

Happy Birthday Kacey Michelle!

Please tell Kacey, on her birthday, that I first learned of her spirit from Kristi 10 years ago!!! She was just a little squirt but Kristi bragged on her ALL the time. She would be so proud of the woman that Kacey has become. She is gorgeous, fun, smart and talented. Am I getting old.....what is a black strip down the back of the hair? We need a post on that . Happy Birthday to KAcey and kuddos to you for raising such a great gal.
