Privacy anyone?

I am finding myself in somewhat of a quandary. Everyone knows how much I love to be the center of attention for all of the universe to gaze upon. However, lately I've been contemplating going private with my blogging. I'm completely torn. Part of me loves that people near and far can drop by any time and browse through my pages. The other part of me is beginning to be paranoid that people near and far can drop by any time and browse through my pages. I usually detest the private blogs ... I want to read them all! Yet lately something has been nagging a sixth sense to entertain the thought. We have so many warnings spinning through the air these days, maybe it's time for me to grow up and listen? Like I said ... a quandary.

What are your thoughts about going private?

The same thing runs through my mind every now and again. I hate coming across a blog of someone I know, and then they're private!! I don't know their email address...so I'm outta luck!! Selfish reasons, I know!! But I know I should go private for the safety of my kids!! Too much information is out there of them..and too many whackos are out there watching!!

i so understand. i never really considered it until i saw on my blog tracker that i couldn't track everyone who saw my blog. i'm thinking i will at the very least take it off search engines. that way i can see everyone who sees it, for the most part. there are my two cents.

I'm with Tina...as long as I can read about your adventures, it's fine with me! That "sixth sense" is there for a reason. :)

I'm leaning towards it myself Karen. I haven't quite committed to it, but probably will eventually. My family has a blog that is blocked so we can share info like addresses, etc. we don't want for everyone, but I haven't decided for my personal one.

I battled this too at one time and it was hard to go private BUT there are a lot of wackos out there!

Um I thought I left this comment earlier but for some reason it didn't post (wierd).
Ultimately, you have to do what's best for you and what makes you the most comfortable.

I'm really thinking about it myself. Especially having a 9 year old and the new baby. I know i have friends read it that probably wouldn't ever tell me their email though, and i hate to cut off people from reading about my fabulous life.

As one of your frequent readers without a blog, I will be sad, but I do understand.

It's also a risk you take being on the internet in the first place, having your information and whereabouts online...

How are y'all?

Karen, I just discovered a little gadget called sitemeter which monitors your blog. It's free and you can see all kinds of details like who's looking @ your blog, when. go to my blog and click on the icon. Then you can sign up at the main website, it's free.

I already have the sitemeter, but it doesn't give me as much information as I'd like. It's a good start though.

I guess I agree since I'm going private. Thanks to one of Steve''s clients ex's finding our blog and leaving a nasty comment we're committed to going private. By the way I found another site which has more info. it's called blogpatrol.com.

KAREN! What is UP!! Ann just told me you had this blog so I've been doing some catch up reading. Made me smile to see your face. Do you remember me? Your friends little sister, pain in your rear?
