These two lovebirds have been separated. Little Austin is being set apart as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints ... tonight. He leaves tomorrow and will not return for two years. Little Kacey is so sad. Here's the problem ... I don't do sad. I am the kind of mother who tells the children to knock it off and buck up when they are covered in blood and we are on our way to the Emergency Room. Therefore, I am at a total loss for knowing how to handle this. This stuff is worse than blood. It's hurting her heart, which hurts my heart, which makes me just crack a joke ... I know I'm sick. So seriously ... HELP! I suck at this! Any and all advice will be put to good use!

Been there done that with both my boys! willie girl waited, Zac's girl lasted for a few months and then we didn't see her! keep her busy and have her start a scrap book for him from the time he got his call to when he leaves and then returns, Camie made Willie the nicest one I have ever seen, I was hoping I could have the same thing happen for Zac, so i guess I should get started on it! ha
Fake it... she needs you. xox
Once college starts back up, she'll be so busy dating new guys she won't have time to be sad!
Have her write letters (supportive ones!)and tell her that 2 years goes by really fast!
Tell her to remember her big brother gets home in only a week! I still can't believe that! Keep us posted on all the news. Also remind her would she rather He NOT go?
Hm, guess that is why WE DON'T DATE SERIOUS UNTIL THEY GET HOME! He'll make a better missionary when she Dear John's him. Then he doesn't have to think about all the guys she is dating! I know, I know, she can be a great support, too. Sorry, there is always the one one to throw the monkey wrench in things. Love, Cousin C
Hmmm... who is cousin C? I think Becky's right, once school is in, she'll be really busy. I was sad when all my friends left, but I also was so busy that time flew....
I never had a missionary to send off so I don't have first hand experience. But I did serve with elders who had girls writing to them. The best thing for him, will be for her to write supportive letters and not mushy letters that will make him more home sick. I loved getting letters from friends and fam that just told me of their every day happenings. School will help her not to focus on him and miss him as much.
Well Cousin C. I'm not sure you know me OR Austin so I'm pretty sure you don't know what will help me or make him a better missionary. I'm not going to Dear John him and I am going to continue to support him because I KNOW it IS helping him.
Oh dear.
I agree Kacey - dear johning him when you still like him is a dumb idea. :)
:) Cousin C
