Here we go ...
So here's the deal. Apparently I have Lupus. Systemic Lupus. I guess two rounds of blood work don't lie. I've been through the denial phase, the fear phase snuck up on me one long weekend, and now I guess I've begun the acceptance phase.
I've heard lots of bad/scary stories about people having a pretty hard time with it. I'm done with those stories. I know they're out there, but I don't choose to listen to them anymore. So we're moving on.
If you have any great success stories regarding Lupus ... something that will have me dancing in the sprinklers with my arms held up high ... then please feel free to share them!
This is going to be a place of the most positive outlook on the disease. Not a big hairy deal.
So there. I said it.

Hi Karen. I have been thinking about you this past week after talking to Tiff. Ben has come home a couple of times in the past 2 months talking about young kids with Lupus.
So here is my positive piece. Ben said it is great that the symptoms didn't start when you were younger. When I say younger I mean in your teens. I am not saying that you are old :)
Just wanted to give you a positive. Feel free to call Ben (even though you can call your own Dr.) or you can ask Tiff and she can ask.
Thinking of you!
Melissa
First, I am sorry about your news and am glad you are only interested in the positive! I hope you feel good and stay positive and keep being who you are!
Second, I love your family pics! K & K did a great job! I especially love your "jumping" pic...that's my favorite!!
I'm so sorry. I'm not sure what Lupus is, so I'll be reading up on it. But if there is anything I can do, please let me know. If there if ANYONE that can get through this, I KNOW that its YOU! Love you Karen.
Karen...oh man! Sorry about your news. You are awesome positive and fun. Wish we could see you guys more often. Love you!
That just stinks. If anyone can handle it - you can! You and Staci can now bond over your stinky auto-immune diseases (she has rheumatoid arthritis). Love you!
